لندن: The pharmaceutical industry group “AstraZeneca” announced Monday that the US government is investing about half a billion dollars in the manufacture and distribution of a treatment against Covid-19 on a large scale and is in an advanced stage of clinical trials.
She said in a statement that with an investment of $ 486 million, the US government will contribute to the development and distribution of 100,000 doses by the end of 2020 and could purchase an additional million doses in 2021.
The company added in London that “the antibody group A-Z-D 7442 is progressing rapidly in phase III trials.”
She added that two trials “in the United States and other places will include six thousand people in order to prevent Covid-19 disease, and additional trials on about four thousand people will include treatment of those infected” with the emerging coronavirus.
And the giant group of drugs that has been developing in parallel with the University of Oxford, a “vaccine” that is considered among the most promising vaccines, it announced at the end of August that it had launched experiments on the first phase of its drug to treat Covid-19, which was funded by the US government by 25 million dollars.
The drug is considered a combination of two groups of long-acting antibodies taken from recovered patients from Covid-19 and was discovered by the American Medical Center at Vanderbilt University and obtained a license for AstraZeneca in June.
