Prague – The United States or Great Britain officially have their ambassador in the Czech Republic as of today. The USA is represented in the Czech Republic by Bijan Sabet and the British crown by Matthew Field. President Miloše Zeman received credentials from them at Prague Castle, and six other ambassadors from Europe and Africa also handed them over to him.

Sabet has been staying in the Czech Republic since the last day of January. He is the co-founder and general partner of Spark Capital, a venture capital firm. Prior to that, he worked as a senior executive at a number of technology start-up companies in Silicon Valley, California and Massachusetts. He is a member of the board of trustees of Boston College, from which he received his bachelor's degree.
The last American ambassador in Prague was Stephen King, at the end of 2020 he announced that he would give up this position with the arrival of the new president Joe Biden. Since then, the post of US ambassador in Prague has been vacant, the embassy was temporarily headed by chargé d'affaires Christy Agorová.
Since January, British ambassador Field has also been in Prague, replacing Nick Archer. Previously, Field was, for example, ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the past he also worked at the British embassy in Brazil and Croatia, and was also a political adviser to the EU's special representative in Macedonia.
Both ambassadors became active on social networks after their arrival . Field attracted attention with his video in which he introduced himself to the Czechs in fluent Czech. According to the photo published on Twitter, Sabet and Field already met in Prague.
Zeman also received credentials from six other ambassadors. The Republic of South Africa is now represented in Prague by Ambassador Mosa Ditty Sejosingoe, the Republic of Cyprus by George S. Jiang, Egypt by Mahmúd Mustafá Afifi and Latvia by Elita Kuzma.
The Ambassador of Iceland, Maria Erla Marelsdóttir, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Djibouti also handed over their credentials to Zeman today. Jasín Husajn Doual, who will represent their countries in the Czech Republic from Berlin.
