Stockholm – Canadian singer The Weeknd became the first artist to break the 100 million monthly listeners mark on the Spotify streaming platform. This was confirmed by the BBC company Spotify itself.

The star of the R&B genre already holds the record for the most listened song on Spotify. It's the song Blinding Lights, which has a staggering 3.4 billion+ plays.
The latest success comes days after the release of a new remix of 2016's Die For You featuring Ariana Grande.
Now 33, The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, is one of the biggest hitmakers of the last decade.
