“The award-winning albums in the Disc and Discovery categories could hardly have had more different starting points. On the Bečvová album, Tomáš Niesner urgently and painfully elaborated a real story from real life related to the landscape of his childhood. The work of digital singer-songwriter Matěj Čech alias Mat213, on the other hand, is characterized by lightness, naivety and reflection the scattered life of the young generation, which takes place to a large extent virtually on social networks,” said Pavel Uretšlégr, one of the coordinators of the Vinyla awards.
The jury also evaluated different approaches to creation in the third year of the Jana “Apačka” Grygarová Award. “The jury chose Jiří Slabihoudek, who very engagingly bridges the boundaries between popular and classical music. And the bridges between older and young listeners of independent music are also eruditely built by columnist David Laufer,” said Tomáš Grombíř on behalf of the organizers.
At the Bastl call The Electronic Track jury awarded the track Lojza Kotřábek from the duo Mezi patry klid, consisting of Matouš Pospíšil and Šimon Pacek, out of a total of 39 submitted compositions. “In cooperation with our partner Bastl Instruments, we will provide support for the laureates to record an original EP, including instrument lending, promotion, mentoring and concert support,” Grombíř said.
Four of the nominated artists performed at the gala evening – Anna Vaverková, Mat213, Lobbyboy&saab900turbo and band Tamara. The program was conducted by Zdeněk Lichnovský, head of Radio 1 and also a member of the Vinyla Music Awards Council.
The announcement of the winners of the Vinyla awards does not stop there. Its organizers are once again preparing a series of concerts, lectures and educational workshops across the entire republic. The traditional visual of the limited stokus series of LP records containing one song each from all the nominees was prepared this year by the artist and performer Kateřina Konvalinová and the sculptor Erika Velická.
