The study measured the variation in the prices of breakfast products in the main economies of the world, which according to the explanation of Jared Conway, head of Research, Product Development and Training at Euromonitor, still fighting inflation:

According to a report from the Euromonitor portal, reviewed by La República, eggs, coffee, some fruits and milk, basic breakfast products for Colombians, are the products that have risen the most in price so far in 2022 .

Thus, according to published figures, natural juices are the most affected by price increases, since, for example, only oranges rose one 44%, so if a kilo could cost around 2,500 pesos a few months ago, now it is around 4,500 pesos.

Now, the eggs: according to the report, the increase in their price has been 33%, so a bucket that previously ranged between 8,000 and 11,000 pesos, currently does not fall below 14,000.

Dane’s director assured that the ‘corrientazo’ will go up

On Friday 3rd June Juan Daniel Oviedo, director of Dane, was at the Central de Abastos of the Metropolitan Area of ​​Bucaramanga in order to review food prices in the capital of Santander, one of the cities with the most expensive “corrientazo” in Colombia.

“Let’s remember that the Bucaramanga metropolitan area is above the national average in the prices of the basic family basket,” Oviedo clarified during his visit to Centroabastos.

During his visit to that establishment , whose purpose was to study food costs prior to delivering the May inflation report, the official confirmed that the prices of some foods continue to rise.

Beef, chicken and fish continue to rise in price due to the cost of inputs, such as concentrate, which are required for their production, the director of Dane pointed out. Regarding the egg, despite the fact that in April and May the price stabilized, it tends to rise again.

Regarding other foods that show increases, he assured that it is necessary to take into account the products They go up according to the season. “In the case of oranges and tangerines, they still have rises due to the effects of the harvest cycle,” explained the official.

Rice, another of the essential products of the “corrientazo” and of the family basket, it is also becoming more expensive. According to the director of Dane, last month there was an increase in this product, both refined and premium.

“In general terms, in all the wholesale markets, in the month First and refined rice increased in May, which is a reflection that the lower harvest in the first semester was reflected in the price,” explained Oviedo.
