On Tuesday, Live Nation Entertainment, which has combined tour operator Live Nation and box office Ticketmaster since 2010, admitted responsibility for the chaos provoked through ticket sales for the new The Eras Tourby Taylor Swift last November. The company’s president and chief financial officer, Joe Berchtold, was heard by the US Congress and presented his apologies to the senators.

“We apologize to the fans, we apologize to Ms Swift, we have to do better and we will do better,” Joe Berchtold.

At the time of the pre-sale to attend; During these concerts, fans complained about several technical problems, including an interminable wait, big bugs and also the exorbitant price of tickets. Joe Berchtold acknowledged that they could have done better and offered solutions like spreading “sales over a longer period and doing a better job of setting fan expectations.”

Absent Taylor Swift

The senators have visibly been unconvinced by the big boss’s exercise in contrition. The Republican John Kennedy thus carried away in support of Taylor Swift fans. “If you care about the consumer, lower the prices!” Remove bots and middlemen! And if you really care about him, leave them alone!” he blurted out.

The Swifties also demonstrated before the US Congress. On the other hand, the 33-year-old star was not part of the hemicycle. It is therefore the musician Clyde Lawrence who took the floor to denounce the methods of Live Nation. He said; that the turner could do whatever he wanted: “If they want to charge us $250 for a stack of ten clean towels, they can, and they do.” /p>

”That’s exactly the definition of a monopoly,” Democratic Senator Amy Klobuchar.

Ticketmaster has over 70% market share; US concert ticket office, while Live Nation is the main tourer. Despite fiasco, Taylor Swift s sixth tour will go ahead as scheduled from March 17 to August 9, 2023.
