TikTok banned the latest viral challenge from the internet: walking on a basket ladder

Viral challenges spreading through social media are drawing more and more public attention. Not so much because of how attractive the proposal can be, but because of what a person is capable of doing to get “likes”. One of the last challenges is walking on plastic baskets and the dangers are in plain sight.

The so-called “Milk Crate Challenge” went viral in the US, leaving some of the participants injured. For this reason, TikTok decided to ban these videos.

The challenge, also known as “Hood Olympics” is to climb and descend without falling out of plastic dairy baskets. They are stacked like a ladder.

Before TikTok took action to prevent a tragedy, the hashtags of the dangerous challenge had accumulated almost 71 million views on its platform.

The challenge left some of the participants injured and raised concern among parents of teens who visit or use TikTok.

TikTok users are unaware that this challenge involves risking falling, hitting the head, breaking the neck, or being paralyzed, among many other lifelong injuries. Doctors assure that Falling off this pyramid of baskets is just as deadly as falling down some stairs.

The ban was released after several health workers used social media to express concerns about the trend and the danger it poses to those involved in it.

“TikTok prohibits content that promotes or glorifies dangerous acts, and we removed videos and redirected searches to our Community Guidelines to discourage such content,” said a spokesperson. “We encourage everyone to exercise caution in their behavior, whether online or offline.”

Without results

When someone tries to search for the trending hashtag, a notice appears on TikTok stating “no results found.” Instead a notification appears that warns “this phrase may be associated with behavior or content that violates our guidelines”.

But just as the obstacle appears, there are others who seek a method to avoid it. Some videos, as Tech Crunch points out, are still visible in the app if users search for misspelled keywords associated with the challenge.

And while these videos don’t get a significant amount of views, they have managed to bypass the ban and stay in the shadows of the app.

In the different social networks this challenge continues to grow, where you can see people falling from the top of the structure to the ground in a very dangerous way. In some clips you can even see how they fall and hit with the head.

Despite how risky the challenge is, some Internet users managed to complete the entire route without falling and shared it on their profiles. One of them was Shauntica Williams, ‘sweet_tic’ on Instagram, who explained to theGrio that she decided to pass the challenge on a whim and even won about $ 800.
