Prague – This morning was rather like spring in the Czech Republic. Temperatures mostly did not drop below five to ten degrees Celsius, which in many places meant exceeding the so-called highest minimum temperature for February 21. Records were recorded by approximately 100 stations out of 160 that have been operating for at least 30 years. In Olomouc, a record was set for the whole of February, the temperature there did not fall below 9.8 degrees Celsius. Pavel Šimandl from the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ) told ČTK. It was colder in the morning only in the south of the territory.

“The maximum temperatures these days are also more reminiscent of the turn of March and April,” meteorologists said. Temperatures reach well above ten degrees Celsius during the day. However, the maximum for today was not exceeded anywhere. “The above-average warm weather will last at least until Friday. It will cool down at the weekend and snow will appear not only on the mountains,” said the CHMÚ.
Currently, the snow is only on the mountains. In addition, in the Ore Mountains and Šumava, the limit of continuous snow cover is unusually high for this time of year, starting from roughly 900 to 1000 meters above sea level. Even Brdy is without snow. On Monday, the Czech-Moravian Highlands reported a continuous snow cover only at the Herálec snow measuring station.
