The award-winning actor Tom Cruise lived a spectacular weekend in Silverstone, on the occasion of the Formula 1 British Grand Prix. The famous American VIP celebrated the victory of Lewis Hamilton, a friend who ‘hosted’ him in his part of the box to watch the race up close, but even before the cars hit the track shot a presentation commercial for British television Channel 4.
In this short film Tom Cruise has recreated the tension of the film ‘Top Gun’, in which he was the protagonist, challenging Mark Webber and David Coulthard on the asphalt of Silverstone driving a Porsche 911 GT3. Cruise, who is known for shooting the most dangerous scenes usually without the need for a stunt double, really enjoyed speeding and skidding with the German car. Tom Cruise is a great fan of cars and motorcycles, and he proves it a little in this context as well. Although it is not known whether in the case of the most daring maneuvers he was really behind the wheel.
In full spirit ‘Top Gun’, Cruise challenges Webber and Coulthard in a chase and then unleashes a surprise attack of sorts, while the musical backdrop is served with the film’s original song, ‘Danger Zone’ by Kenny Loggins. The footage is full of references to the film, and Cruise utters iconic phrases like “I am dangerous,” “There are no points for second place” and of course “I feel the need for speed”.

At a certain point the famous phrase “Not bad for a number 2 driver“: This time, however, it is not Mark Webber who says it, but Tom Cruise himself. The Australian, who certainly does not lack a sense of humor, indulges in laughter. The video was shown by the British television network in the hours before the British Grand Prix then won, precisely by Lewis Hamilton.
