Accident of a van and a truck on the 131st kilometer of D1 in the direction of Brno, February 18, 2023 near Měřín in Žďársk.
Prague – Traffic on the D1 highway to Brno was stopped for about four hours today in Vysočina due to a tragic traffic accident in which two people died and two others were injured. In front of Měřín in Žďársk, a truck collided with a van carrying a passenger car on a trailer in the morning. To clarify the causes of the accident, the police would need the help of drivers who were passing by the place at the time of the accident or before it. Police spokeswoman Dana Čírtková informed ČTK about this.

“In order to clarify the circumstances of this accident, the police would need to find out what preceded the accident and why the delivery vehicle remained stationary in the right lane,” said Čírtková. The blue van in which the foreigners were traveling remained stationary in the right lane. It had a trailer attached that was carrying a light gray passenger car. Two of the passengers in the van that was hit by the truck died. The truck caught fire after the impact. The truck driver had to be treated in hospital. Paramedics also transported another passenger from the van to the hospital.
According to Čírtková, the accident happened at kilometer 129, the National Transport Information Center initially stated that the accident site was kilometer 131.
Intervention in the event of the accident, traffic in the direction of Prague was also briefly stopped, traffic was diverted to exit 134 Měřín. On the way to Brno, cars left the highway at exit 119 Velký Beranov. According to the police, the accident happened at 06:19. Traffic was restored around 10:30 a.m.
Accident of four cars in Rakovnick left five injured
Four cars crashed near Kolešov in Rakovnick this morning. The accident left five people injured, of which one person was seriously injured. A rescue helicopter flew to the scene, regional fire department spokesman Jan Sýkora told ČTK.
The incident was reported around 09:30. A helicopter was flown in for the seriously injured passenger. “We helped with the provision of first aid and carried out fire prevention measures. We control traffic on site using a shuttle,” Sýkora added.
