Kyiv – On the eve of the first anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense published a list of what he considers to be the top ten victories of Ukrainian defenders in the past year. Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Defense Hanna Malyarová identified the successful defense of cities in the north of the country, including Kyiv, the expulsion of Russian occupation forces from a number of Ukrainian regions, the destruction of the Russian cruiser Moskva and the liberation of Snake Island as major achievements.

“First of all, it is the successful defense of Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy and Kharkiv in February to April 2022. Our second major victory is the mass resistance of the civilian population against the Russian occupiers in the territories temporarily occupied by the invaders,” Maljarová said at a press conference, according to the RBK-Ukraine server.< /p>
As the third victory, the deputy designated the expulsion of Russian troops from the north of Ukraine – specifically from the Kyiv, Chernihiv and Sumy regions last spring. The ministry considers the destruction of the flagship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet – the cruiser Moskva – last April as the fourth victory, and the liberation of Snake Island in June as the fifth.
“Our sixth victory is the destruction of the logistics system of the Russian occupation forces in the south and east of Ukraine in June and August,” said Malyarová, according to whom the seventh success is the expulsion of Russian soldiers from the Kharkiv region and the eighth is the liberation of part of the Kherson region, which the Ukrainian armed forces achieved last fall.
The ministry also published a list of military successes on his telegram, where he mentions in ninth place the successful operation of the Ukrainian air defense system from last October until now. As the last point, he mentions the halting of the Russian offensive in the east of Ukraine in December 2022 to February 2023.
Russia militarily attacked the neighboring country in the early hours of February 24 last year, triggering the worst armed conflict in Europe since World War II , which is estimated to have claimed tens of thousands of lives on both sides and displaced millions from their homes. Fighting is currently taking place mainly in the east of the country.
