“It has become a war of attrition and thus also a logistics battle,” Stoltenberg said after meeting with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson in Stockholm. According to the head of NATO, it is important that Ukraine's allies increase arms production.

In this context, Stoltenberg welcomed that work is being done on the joint purchase of ammunition by the EU states. According to him, there have been joint purchases in NATO for many years.

The twenty-seventh defense ministers want to discuss further supplies of ammunition to Ukraine at a meeting near Stockholm on Wednesday. According to the DPA, there are fears that a country attacked by Russia may not have enough artillery shells available in the future. Already in February, Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Reinsalu stated at a meeting of EU ministers that Ukraine is running out of ammunition.

Now a proposal is being debated to significantly increase the amount of funds that the Union will contribute to member states for the purchase of ammunition for Ukraine . Another billion euros (23.6 billion crowns) could be released for this purpose. Stoltenberg was invited to the meeting of Union ministers as a guest.
