The joke has gone on long enough. The government has decided to whistle the end of the recreation concerning the urban rodeos, by tightening the legislation within the framework of the orientation and programming law of the Ministry of the Interior. Thus, the Assembly adopted, at 74 votes for and 0 against, the possibility to confiscate the vehicles of “urban rodeos”, even when they have not been used in the offence.

“There is no note from the General Directorate of the National Police that prohibits arrests or prohibits prosecution, it’s 'fake news',” plied in the hemicycle the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin. “What is being told to the police,” he continued,”is that a “prosecution should just be proportionate to the risk it poses” both to the police themselves and to people on the road or on the sidewalks. “Stop repeating that there is prohibition to prosecute, there is authorization to prosecute except when the police team considers that at some point he endangers the lives of others,” said the minister. After its adoption by the Senate, the examination in first reading of the law defended by Gérald Darmanin must continue in March. Assembly at least until Friday.
