In 2015, Valérie Pécresse had provoked outrage in front of the cameras of the “Petit Journal”. A sentence is considered sexist, which is continuing still the president of the region Ile-de-France, five years later.
There are phrases that will forever remain etched in the memories of the French. “‘Casse-toi pauv’ con'” of Nicolas Sarkozy, “I crossed the street, I find you a job”, “The kwassa-kwassa little fishing, he brings the Comoros, it is different,” or even “I don’t give away anything, nor to the lazy” d’Emmanuel Macron. One remembers also the “little phrase” of Jacques Chirac, referring to “noise and smell” in a speech about immigrants in 1991. “I’ve never made up of small sentences, it’s unfair to say it”, is precisely justified Emmanuel Macron, in January 2019.
The political personalities are likely to be let out of the “small phrases”, which have created controversy. If one goes back a few years, Valérie Pécresse she, too, had created outrage, it was in may of 2015. In front of the cameras of the Petit Journal, Valérie Pécresse was in full campaign for the regional elections. A broom in hand, she had declared : “today the subject is the cleanliness. I want a clean area. And there is nothing like a woman to do the housework“. A sentence that had made the public laugh of the plateau de Canal+, and caused an uproar.
A sentence of first-degree
A few months later, in January 2016, then the new president of the region Ile-de-France recently, was asked on BFMTV. Jean-Jacques Bourdin had wanted to know if she had wanted to make “a joke”. “No”, replied firmly Valérie Pécresse, before recognizing that it was not often the household home. “I am very helpful, like all the other women who work, and I’m not going to pretend the contrary”, she added.
“I am a woman ‘released-issued'”
December 2017, in an interview with the Journal du Dimanche, the president of the region Ile-de-France had explained wanting to “bring a word radically feminist”. A fight that she was at the forefront of its policy, because of “regression to the emancipation of women”, as she revealed. A political movement that came to oppose “the machismo of Laurent Wauquiez”, then recently elected president of the Republicans, reported Challenges. “I am a woman ‘released-issued'”, had stated, inter alia, Valérie Pécresse in the columns Closer in 2015. Another “little phrase” that will remain.
