Nashville has not been one of Vejmelk's favorite opponents so far, receiving four goals from the Predators in all three games last year. In the last match, the Czech goalkeeper conceded four times in the opening six minutes and headed for the substitutes' bench with only two successful hits.
This time, Vejmelka performed reliably. Against the team that drafted him in 2015, he scored just twice in the second period and shot 93.5 percent to help the Coyotes extend their six-game point streak.
Detroit cruised to a 6-1 win over Vancouver for its second straight win. Out of the trio of Czech hockey players, only defenseman Hronek gained points, who improved his season balance to 35 points with an assist on the last goal of the game. Dominik Kubalík extended his wait for an accurate hit to six games already. Filip Zadina, who is gathering match practice in the fourth formation after a groin injury, did not score either.
