Epic Games official the Unreal Engine 5 (on PS5) !
It is in the framework of the Summer Game Fest that the giant Epic Games has decided to formalize its new Unreal engine 5. A graphics engine is a new-generation at the destination, of course, of the PC, but also (and especially ?) future Xbox consoles Series X and PlayStation 5. For his presentation, Epic Games has released a video made… on PS5 !
The best console Sony PS4 500 Gb
289 € Microsoft Xbox One X 1 Tb
348 € Nintendo Switch
According to Epic Games, it is all about what the ” next gen “ will be able to offer us, once the developers will clearly have the tools in hand and they will learn the guts of future consoles. The video put online by Epic Games will discover attention to detail is unprecedented, with a technical demo that puts it clearly in full view, as often with demos techniques for the Unreal Engine.
Games not before a year (at least) ?
Do not, however, find this quality on your screens by the end of the year, since it is a demo optimized to the maximum, to demonstrate the extent of the capabilities of the Unreal Engine 5. In other words, it is not a ” real game” . A demo that integrates two separate technologies, namely, Nanite, which takes care of the side to be geometric, and Lumen, which runs to its side effects light in a dynamic way.
However, according to Tim Sweeney, CEO of Epic Games, he doesn’t expect to see games of this caliber before,” a little time” . This last one takes the example of the Xbox 360 and Gears of War, launched a year after the console, and that was one of the first large representatives of the next-gen (and the Unreal Engine 3). It will therefore probably have to wait a year (at least) to discover titles really “next-gen ” on our Xbox consoles Series X and PS5.
It should be noted that the new Unreal Engine 5 will be compatible with PS5, Xbox Series X, PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Mac, iOS and Android, but it will not be deployed in a preview version for developers, before the beginning of 2021. Suffice to say that the first games exploiting to the full the potential of the Unreal Engine 5 will not arrive before a couple of years…
