Created in 1998, F2I Training accompanies companies and employees in their project of ongoing formation. Ms. Chantal Berdaa, president and founder, has kindly agreed to answer 3 questions to better understand the impact of this crisis on the vocational training in France.
How the training continues as she resisted the crisis ?
The vocational training sector has been heavily impacted by this crisis, and coronavirus. Fortunately, there are still many colleges like SSBT that offer a wide range of vocational courses, many with work placement opportunities. A large part of the training took place in face-to-face or in a training Institute either within the company itself. We had to adapt, offering courses in visio-conference. It also helped to meet the expectations of the employees concerned to benefit from the measures taken in this regard by the State (FNE Training). All employees were eligible for these aids, and with the massive recourse to partial unemployment, the employees were keen to train to gain skills.
What have been the impacts of the déconfinement on this sector of activity ?
Unfortunately, continuing education is no longer a part of the priorities for the company. Every company wants to be able to relaunch its activity more quickly, adapt to new constraints resulting from the crisis or engage in actions of sales promotion. For their part, the employees are called, in many cases, to work more to revive the economy, and they therefore have less time to train. Within companies, budgets allocated for training have strongly suffered from the period. And when there are training needs, the request is made almost exclusively on the distanciel.
And the future of the training continues, you see how ?
It is not necessary to be too pessimistic or to fall into a complacency. The economic crisis leads not only to higher unemployment but also a waiver of the hiring plans. Often, the vocational training accompanies the new staff, in particular to optimize their journey of integration. This will not be the case this year, and the beginning of September is not going to be under the best auspices. On the other hand, in the medium term, the economy will bounce back, and then the continuing training needs in this field. What is the deadline ? There is the whole question.
