Why does Pfizer want to give the vaccinators a third dose?

Fauci’s statement came in an indirect response to Pfizer’s announcement a few days ago that it was time for a third dose, in a move it said was aimed at providing enhanced immune protection for people who received the two doses.

Fauci explained in an interview with CNN, on Sunday evening, that the US administration has not yet informed its citizens who received the two doses of the need for a booster dose of the vaccine, based on current data.

He continued, “The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration are now saying that given the data and information we have, we do not need to give people a third dose.”

He added that there are studies underway to see if and when the US will recommend booster doses, but for now, no third dose.

And Pfizer announced, last week, that it had noticed a decline in the immunity conferred by the vaccine, noting that it was intensifying its efforts regarding the third dose, about which data will be published soon.

The company also said it will seek emergency use authorization from the Food and Drug Administration for a booster dose in August.
