Bullying prevention
Instagram announced new features to reduce negative interactions , including bullying in comments. “Although the world certainly changed this year, our commitment to leading the industry in the fight against online bullying remains a priority,” the company underlines in the statement.
New features to reduce online bullying:
Hide potentially offensive comments : This is a new feature that automatically hides comments similar to others that have been previously reported. You can select “view hidden comments” to display those comments. Beyond that, the content that violates the Community Rules will be removed, as it has been doing until now.
Potentially offensive comment notices expanded : Potentially offensive comment notices will now include a notification when people repeatedly try to post something that may be harmful. These new notices will allow users to take a moment to reflect on their words and the possible consequences that could arise if they post that comment.

Instagram throughout history
Instagram was launched 10 years ago, a platform that was born as an app to edit photos and that today has become a social network with more than 1,000 million users. And although it maintains that imprint where the axis is placed on audiovisual content, many more tools were added that promote the possibility of creating creative content as well as the option of interacting with a constantly expanding community.
Kevin Systrom , co- founder of Instagram with Mike Krieger , was the first person to upload a photo to the platform. Systrom posted on July 16, 2010, a photo of his dog titled “test” (“test”, in English). This is how this site was inaugurated.
On October 6 of that year, the app was published on the App Store and was all the rage. Just two months after its launch, it already had one million users and by 2011 it reached 10 million. The landing on Android took place only in 2012 . And in April of that year, Facebook decided to buy the application for $ 1 billion.
By February 2013 the milestone of 100 million users was reached . Until then, only images could be shared on the platform, but in June the option to post videos began to be enabled. Direct messages arrived in December, which was key for it to become a true social network.
At the end of 2014, there were more than 300 million users, but the great novelties were added in 2016 . In that year, the app icon was designed, stories , live broadcasts were incorporated and the algorithm that feeds the feed was adjusted so that users could first see the posts that interest them most.
In March 2017 it was possible to add the location and the hashtags to the stories and then augmented reality effects were added. The following year IGTV was launched to allow it to post videos longer than one minute, the time limit allowed for clips in the feed.
In that anniversary year, the platform added Reels, a tool that allows you to create short videos with many filters and effects, in the best Tik Tok style. And now, on its anniversary day, new functions have been added that make it clear that this application plans to continue renewing itself.
