During the rafting down the river, Kirill Kosogorov, a 32-year-old kayaker, champion of the Altai Territory in rowing slalom, died. This was announced on August 28 by the group “Water tourism: disputes, stories, films, photos” in the social network “VKontakte”.
The rafting took place in the lower gorge of Bashkauch. The body of an athlete from a remote mountainous area is evacuated by helicopter, writes REN TV.
The last post on his Instagram page was published by Kosogorov on August 15. According to the athlete, he went on an expedition to Chebdar and is looking for “a new gestalt in the depths of Altai.”
“The waterfall on the Koksu River is, of course, interesting, but too small for a feat,” wrote Kirill.

Kosogorov has been kayaking for over ten years, took part in expeditions in Russian regions and abroad, organized competitions, was vice-president of the Altai Krai Rafting Federation.
