Afghanistan, Pope Francis: “May countries welcome those seeking a new life”
“Countries welcome those seeking a new life”: Pope Francis declared this during the Sunday Angelus, speaking of those fleeing Afghanistan after the Taliban seized power.
“In these agitated moments, which see Afghans seeking refuge, I pray for the most vulnerable among them – said the Pontiff – I pray that many countries will welcome and protect those seeking a new life. I also pray for internally displaced people, so that they have the necessary assistance and protection ”.
“May young Afghans – added the Pope – receive education, an essential asset for human development. And may all Afghans, both at home, in transit, and in the host countries, live with dignity, in peace and fraternity with their neighbors ”.
