Tobacco giant Philip Morris International (PMI) has bought a 22.61 percent stake in British asthma inhaler maker Vectura. Following the deal, PMI announced that it plans to continue acquiring Vectura shares on the market at 165p (RUB167) per share. informs CNBC.
PMI is interested in Vectura, as it believes that in the future, the acquisition of the company will allow it to earn more. The cigarette maker is counting on the absorption of Vectura, intending increase their revenues from the sale of goods and services not related to nicotine, up to a billion dollars a year. It is assumed that PMI will gain access to inhaler technologies for the production of alternative smoking systems, however, the production of the asthma drugs Vectura will continue after the takeover.
