The president of Colombia, Iván Duque, has stated that breaking trade relations with the countries that “generate employment and investment” to Bogota it would be “stupid” unprecedented within the framework of the recent signing of a Free Trade Agreement with the United Kingdom.
“When commercial relations have been forged that bring investment, that generate employment, that generate opportunities, breaking with that would be unprecedented stupidity. Precisely the State policies lead to more trade and more investment”, Duque pointed out this Thursday, as reported by Caracol Radio.
These statements come within the framework of the elections scheduled for May 29 and after the words of the candidate for president of Colombia for the Historical Pact, Gustavo Petro, who has said that, if he becomes president, will search renegotiate existing trade relations with the United States, according to the Colombian press.

The current Colombian president, Iván Duque, who is in the United Kingdom, has met with the British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, and with the Trade Minister, Ranil Jayawardena, to reinforce the relationship between the two nations.
