The team members are: Patricia Molino, Kim Harwood, Esther Cervilla, Sandra Arconada, Maria Victoria Cervilla, Maria Eugenia de Haro, Carmen Ligero, Majo Carvajal, Maria Isabel Cervilla and Mercedes García.
“We were hopeful but nervous at the same time, because we knew that the championship was at stake,” explained team member Carmen Ligero, adding, “our rivals didn’t make it easy for us either but we fought like lionesses with all out might and won a deserved victory. “
Another resident athlete in La Herradura is Una Stancev (Club Trops Cueva de Nerja), who won the silver medal in the Absolute Spanish Championship, held in Getafe (Madrid) by clearing 1.80m in the High Jump category.
She actually equalled the gold-medal winner but came second as she had one failed attempt against her earlier in the series.
