After the departure of Mexican driver Sergio “Checo” Pérez from the Racing Point team was announced at the end of the season, much has been speculated about his future and one of the most interesting options for him is Red Bull . which he has not ruled out as a possibility to stay in the top circuit next year .
The team has also seen Pérez as an option , while analyzing the performances of Alex Albon , who has not shown good results as Max Verstappen’s teammate ; However, the native of Guadalajara, Jalisco, has recognized that time is running out for them to make a determination .
“ The season is coming to an end . So I think it is important for the teams to know what is happening, what will happen from now on, and for the drivers as well. I’m looking at all my possible options and yes, I can’t wait much longer, ”he commented during the press conference before the Imola Grand Prix .
In recent days there have been rumors about a possible negotiation between Pérez and Red Bull , but so far neither party has confirmed anything . Although it is important to note that Checo himself has mentioned that he would not rule out the possibility of reaching this team .

“I think for now, until they make a confirmation, they are an option , you know. It is the same as all teams that have not confirmed. I think that, as time goes by, there are very, very few opportunities to stay on the grid for next year, ”agreed the 30-year-old.
For his part, Christian Horner, director of Red Bull, has two options: Checo Pérez and Nico Hulkenberg , and in this regard he has declared that they have already begun to analyze all the alternatives to make their determination known in the coming days .
“Obviously there are drivers who have significant experience and skill and it is unusual for them to be available. I think any of those drivers would put Red Bull as their priority over another seat , so I think they would wait to see what decision we make, “he told the specialized Racer portal.
It should be noted that this Friday, Williams confirmed that the British George Russell and the Canadian Nicholas Latifi will continue to be the drivers of the team for next year, which put an end to speculation about a possible arrival of Sergio “Checo” Pérez .

In addition to Red Bull, Williams was also seen as a possible destination for the experienced and well-funded driver , amid doubts about Russell’s future as acting British team boss Simon Roberts dodged questions about his driver training. for next year during the Portuguese Grand Prix , a situation that fueled speculation .
“It is likely that it caused some confusion last week, sorry, ” he told the media before the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. ” We did not want to comment on the position of the drivers.”
Roberts, who declined to comment on any conversations with Checo , pointed out that “nothing has changed and this is our driver training for this year and next. We are very happy and want to continue working with them continuously ”.
Despite the fact that Pérez has sought a position, the possibilities have been closed to him. Many teams have confirmed their teams, but there are cases that still remain uncertain, such as Hass , who could renew his team of drivers made up of Kevin Mafnussen and Romain Grosjean , who have only added three points in the championship .
