Sara Lotus Emira the last car with a thermal engine of the Hethel brand that will make its official debut on 6 July anticipating the catwalk that the model will experience during the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where there will also be an opportunity to closely observe the new Evija electric hypercar. The new Emira, developed with the code name Type 131 and designed to revive the spirit of the Esprit, it will kick off a major product offensive from Hethel as part of its Vision 80 relaunch plan.
Lotus Emira, a teaser reveals the shapes
Future models of the Geely-owned company will be based on one of four new platforms, including a premium one that will spawn its first SUV and one for electric sports cars. There will be no level of electrification on the Emira, with the new Lotus supercar that will be offered with a choice of two petrol engines: a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder developed by an as-yet-secret partner and a supercharged 3.5-liter V6 unit from Toyota also used on the Evora. The Emir will be built on Lotus’s lightweight aluminum sports platform, a heavily reworked version of the Evora base, and will have an Evija-influenced style. The Emir will be the last Lotus with an internal combustion engine as all future Hethel models will be hybrid or fully electric.
