The facts date back to 2020 and the prosecution’s investigation began after a complaint was filed last April. That day a patient from Marseille came out blind from a routine appointment with an ophthalmologist, Doctor Bernard Castelli.

According to a testimony collected by La Provence and BFM Marseille, this patient, now aged 43, explains that he underwent an unwanted laser operation. The doctor would have been wrong. patient, by reversing first names, as explained by the forties. He recognizes the medical error.
He has now partially recovered sight, after having experienced new operations at the North Hospital. But manifests itself at present the desire for a trial and justice. His lawyer, Philippe Courtois, filed a last April a complaint for “ integrity of the human person having led a disability permanent and non-assistance to person in danger.” The prosecution has opened an investigation.
