At the beginning of October, the Narbonne customs surveillance brigade intercepted a vehicle registered on the A9 motorway. in Ukraine. Examination of the vehicle, which had come from Spain, revealed the presence of numerous wads of 50 euro notes hidden in two pieces of luggage and the dashboard.
Called as reinforcement, the anti-narcotics dog proceeded to to strong marking to several places in the passenger compartment. It allowed the discovery of additional bundles in the front seats of the vehicle. In total, 311,775 euros were extracts from the passenger compartment, consisting largely of 50 euro bills.

Five million euros in transactions
The investigations revealed the existence of a structured fraud organization in terms of money laundering, by reconstructing five million euros worth of transactions. Judged in an immediate appearance a month later, the driver was condemned to three years imprisonment with confiscation of the vehicle and the sums seized, a fine of 155,682 euros and the definitive ban on staying on French territory.
In 2021, customs intercepted 77.4 million euros for breach of reporting obligation and money laundering. An increase of 30% compared to 2020.
