A group of nine athletes, including promoters and former athletes, were consecrated as “immortals” of the first ceremony of exaltation to the pinnacle carried out by the Sports Hall of Fame of the Province of Puerto Plata.

A total of three promoters were immortalized, including the deceased businessman , José Joaquín Redondo (Chichi), to whom the ceremony was also dedicated.

The other two promoters were Fabio Rafael González, who for six decades dedicated His life to the organization, assembly and promotion of various sports disciplines, especially baseball and the late teacher of Physical Education, Diogenes Mart & ınez.

These figures were represented on the podium by their relatives, José; Natalio Redondo Galán, who had his son José José as hostess. Arthur Round; Arturo Infante González, who was accompanied by the former president of the Liga Deportiva Hotelera, José Manuel Fracel and Mildred Spencer, who was escorted by her son Diógenes Martínez Jr.

The acts began with the invocation of thanks to God by the bishop of the diocese Puerto Plata-Gaspar Hernández, Monsignor Julio Cesar Cornielle Amaro.

In addition to Redondo Gomez, González Guzmán and Martínez, the athletes Manuel Morales Jerez, David Hernández Recio, in professional baseball; who were accompanied by their hostesses Onesimo De La Cruz and Rhadamés Hernández; respectively, in amateur baseball, Pablo Antonio Cabrera Santos, Teofilo Apolinar Liriano Reynos, who were escorted by Malvin Mercado and Héctor Santos; in professional boxing, Félix Amado Gómez (Kid Dinamita), represented by his close relative Israel Gómez Batista, who was accompanied by his aide Carlos Ortiz; Carmen Mirian García Hiraldo, in women’s volleyball, escorted by the former selection of this sport Ingrid Mata.

The former Major League player, Nelson Liriano, and the member of the national softball team, Juan Tomas Núñez, both natives of the Atlantic Bride, were in charge of parading carrying the National and Saló flags. n de lo a Fama, which they deposited on the main table where the directors of said institution were placed.

The symbols of exaltation, including the laurel and the machete were mobilized by Joshua Polanco, exalted by the Dominican Sports Hall of Fame in Santo Domingo, and Marlon Martínez, a former member of the basketball team 

During the ceremony, the Podiums that bore the names of prominent sports journalists Onesimo Escaño Peña and Carlos Acevedo.

Reyes Bonilla was in charge of welcoming the exalted, while on behalf of the chronicle Journalist Elvis Gutiérrez spoke at the Puerto Plata sports event and the certification of the exalted in their capacity as promoters and former athletes was given by Amedina Rodríguez.

The closing remarks were by the president of the Puerto Plata Hall of Fame, journalist Perdomo.
