The first round of the presidential elections yielded a surprising result, the former mayor of Bucaramanga, candidate for the League of Anticorruption Leaders, Rodolfo Hernández went to the second round to dispute the House of Nariño against Gustavo Petro.
Among the many reactions that the results of May 29 have left on social networks, are the mockery of Paola Ochoa, who lasted three days as Rodolfo Hernández’s vice-presidential formula, but then withdrew.
Regarding the situation, Ochoa argued that if she had continued as vice-presidential formula, it would have subtracted votes from the engineer:“He wouldn’t have stayed. I told him from day one: ‘I take away his votes’. Thanks to that lady who took a step to the side, [candidate Rodolfo] is getting into the final stretch”, he said on Blu Radio.

Paola Ochoa, journalist and columnist for Blu Radio, indicated that due to a excess of commitments could not continue in the presidential campaign of the former mayor of Bucaramanga. After declining her, in a statement, she reported:
“Now, more than ever, I need time and concentration to attend to this family matter, which fell on me at the moment I least expected. It is my duty to be with children at this very moment in their lives and it prevents me from fully and totally concentrating on the campaign”.
This fact was valued at the time by the candidate of the League of Anticorruption Governors who highlighted the sincerity of the journalist. “When I heard of her motives I was filled with more admiration for her. A brave, prepared and decent woman who today has put her family above everything and that is how it should be. Nothing, not even a political aspiration, can be superior to family love and the moral obligations that come with it,” she said.
After a long search, the researcher and teacher Marelen Castillo was chosen as the vice-presidential option, who finally appeared on the voting card that circulated yesterday at the election tables. The formula for the Casa de Nariño of the League of Anticorruption Leaders with Rodolfo Hernández and Marelen Castillo obtained 28.15% of votes, while the presidential and vice-presidential formula of the Historical Pact Gustavo Petro and France Márquez had a 40.3% in the final pre-count.

The second presidential round will take place next Sunday, June 19, that is, in just three weeks. In the first round, the great surprise given by the former mayor of Bucaramanga was almost six million votes, represented by 28.15%, thus unseating Federico Gutiérrez who won 5,058,002 votes. The political scene is waiting to find out who will add engineer Rodolfo to his presidential campaign, which he called himself against corruption.
