He said that he would not be satisfied and so it was: Fabio Quartararo dominated the British Grand Prix, consolidating his leadership in the standings and putting an important seal on the championship, also thanks to the collapse of Joan Mir and Francesco Bagnaia. The Frenchman confirmed the overwhelming power of his Yamaha on the Silverstone circuit, congenial to his M1, but certainly the rider made the difference.
It all seemed easy for Quartararo, who showed great control of his bike from the traffic lights to the checkered flag, managing to overtake when it was time to fight and taking the edge when he was in the lead. El Diablo crossed the line with more than three seconds ahead of the first of his rivals, Alex Rins: “I don’t know what to say, honestly. I learned a lot in this race. I had a good start but then, on the first lap, I was passed by Aleix and Bagnaia, so we didn’t fight much. But I have great confidence in overtaking, that’s why I don’t worry anymore when I’m fourth or fifth. I have never felt so good. I can control everything. It would be nice if it were always like this, but now I’m enjoying my moment. What a victory! “
At the end of qualifying, Quartararo did not appear satisfied, the third position on Saturday did not leave him happy and he hoped to make up for it in the race. On the pace, however, he was confident and had shown it in FP4. This was confirmed today in the race: “The pace we had yesterday was very good and today in the race it was even better. When we race before Moto2 we have the pace we expected, I’m very happy, the feeling with the bike is also spectacular. When I have to overtake I really feel a lot of confidence ”.
Right now, Quartararo seems to get his hands on the world championship, given the wide advantage in the standings. The Yamaha rider has 65 points more than Joan Mir, second, and 69 over Joahnn Zarco, third. Pecco Bagnaia slips to fourth position, at -70 from Quartararo. However, the world leader does not think too much about the classification: “For the world championship we are in quite good shape, but in the end I made it my goal not to think about the championship until Misano. But, looking at the advantage we have, in the end I don’t have to think about it until Valencia. If there is something strange, yes, but that’s how I enjoy it and I want to go to the race to fight for the win. We have already won five races this season, I feel really happy ”.

The approach, therefore, will not change: “It’s the same. Honestly, that’s how I feel. We have a nice edge, but that’s how I’m enjoying it. With this advantage, I’m not thinking about the championship at all and I’m not going to. The next race at Aragon is on a circuit that I don’t particularly like, but I love Misano, which comes later. Then we have the United States, Portugal, Valencia … they are almost all tracks that I love. Honestly, I’m still in seventh heaven ”.
