Faced with global warming, some professionals are forced to adapt. This is particularly the case for ski resorts. That of La Plagne, one of the busiest in the world, is forced to dismantle its ski lifts to install them 200 meters lower, reports France 3 Auvergne-Rhône -Alps. They are now at 3,250 meters above sea level.
The reason? Landslides linked to melting permafrost. “The line of the chairlift tends to curve slightly. shift,” explains the deputy general manager of the ski area located in Savoy. Due to the low snowfall, its arrival station for the ski lifts will therefore be dismantled this summer. Three tracks in the area, which has 130, will be removed.
