Decades of observations have shown the rotation of the elliptical orbit of stars around the black hole. The path of stars in the shape of a rosette confirms the theory of gravitation albert Einstein (Albert Einstein) on a practical level.
In 1915, Einstein realized his General theory of relativity explains a strange quirk in the orbit of mercury. Now the same effect was discovered in the orbit of stars around massive black holes at the heart of the milky Way – and the results of the project GRAVITY.
The star, called S2, is part of the cluster that surrounds Alfa Sagittarius in the center of the milky Way. For decades, the researchers tracked the elliptical motion of S2 around the black hole, and the ellipse changes over time – the effect is known as the Schwarzschild precession.

This precession is a result of the deformation of space-time caused by massive objects. A new study again confirms that Einstein was right – even in the intense gravitational environment around a supermassive black hole.
