Sun cream children are they dangerous to the health of our little ones ? Yes, according to two associations for the defence of the environment who are the Anses assessment of the “risk/benefit” : by studying more than 70 solar products children, they have updated the presence of many substances considered of concern such as endocrine disrupters, allergens, carcinogens, or neurotoxic.

To the extent that, according to tests carried out by Wefc France and Acting for the environment, too many sunscreens for children contain ingredients considered to be ” extremely worrying “. Almost all of the sunscreen products tested (71 in all) contain 29 substances of special concern to varying degrees ” and, in particular, endocrine disrupters or nano-particles. Ten of these ingredients are deemed “very high concern” according to the associations : they are carcinogenic, neurotoxic and disruptive encodriniens. Seven are classified as “very worrying” (often because they are classified as allergens), and twelve are “of concern” because they raise “issues of health or environmental smaller,” noted Wefc and Act for the environment.
Substances to avoid in sunscreen products for children
In detail, these are the 4-MBC, homosalate, octocrylène, cyclypentasilonxane, cyclohexasiloxane, titanium dioxide nanoparticulate, or phénoxyethanol which are pointed by the fingers. “Other perfuming substances identified as allergens by contact in humans (…) should no longer be allowed in products for children “, according to the associations, which call for the ANSES to assess the risk/benefit of these solar products for the world’s young people.
Several substances are in the process of re-evaluation depending on the laboratory
In response to this study, which is worrying and confusing to parents, the Federation of Enterprises of Beauty (Febea) ensures that all the ingredients used in sunscreen products comply with the cosmetic regulations in europe. She adds that ” some of the ingredients cited by the study are being re-evaluated : if they were ultimately classified as being harmful, they would be immediately removed from the set of cosmetic products “.
Sunscreens child contains the most substances of concern
