What is this?
The Jaguar F-Pace SVR is somewhat the last of the mohicans, although the phenomenon of super-SUVs is actually quite recent. If there weren’t such a thing as a climate crisis, these mastodons could probably thrive for many years to come. But as it stands, Jaguar is in a rush to switch to an all-electric range (also in hopes of claiming some more market share in the electric era) and so this will likely be the last time we’ll see a new Jag with a supercharged 5 liter V8.
The new thing about the Jaguar F-Pace SVR comes from the fairly thorough facelift that was unveiled last year. There are subtle differences to the bodywork: the air scoops on the nose have grown a bit and need to cool the engine and brakes a little better. At the same time, the bumper design improves aerodynamics, as buoyancy is reduced and air resistance drops from 0.37 to 0.36 Cd.
That, in combination with the overhauled V8 that now delivers 50 Nm more for a total of 550 hp and 700 Nm, ensures a higher top speed for the 2021 F-Pace SVR: no less than 286 km/h, 3 km/h faster than before. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is completed by the SVR in exactly 4 seconds. In order to be able to bring the SUV, weighing more than 2 tons, to a safe stop, there are giga brake discs of almost 400 mm all around, a built-in brake servo and new brake lines that should also provide more braking feeling.
