“I wanted to make a Christmas movie that wasnël not too cheesy, the director confides to; 20 Minutes. There is magic intended for do good to the viewer but also a more serious theme.” Like that of restoring confidence in an athlete who no longer believes in herself and who embodies the discovery of Aurore Planas, astonishing in her first major role.
Mental preparation for top-level athletes
“I based myself on on my own experience to write the film and I thought to several women that I have come across in my activity; to create my hero,” explains the director of The Legend and The Present Moment. Along with his career as a filmmaker, Florian Hessique takes care of the mental preparation of high-level footballers and basketball players, a source of fascinating encounters that have fueled The Christmas Challenge.
The heroine at her wits end in the first part of the film picks up the momentum when she comes into contact with the gruff but tender man played by Florian Hessique himself. “It is obvious that, on the scale of the problems of the world, to no longer manage to Scoring a goal may seem insignificant, he says, but professional athletes have made great sacrifices for their discipline which is at the center of their existence.”
