A decade has passed since the last time the UNAM Pumas were proclaimed Mexican soccer champions in the 2011 Clausura tournament and won their seventh Liga MX championship.
On that occasion they defeated in the final Monarcas Morelia By global score of 3-2 in Ciudad Universitaria, after having been leaders of Group C with 35 points and a difference of +14, they also eliminated Rayados de Monterrey and Chivas in the Liguilla.
