The financial accounts of the Palace of the Elysee for the year 2019 have been the subject of a detailed study of the Court of Accounts. And the report remains, this year, rather encouraging.

Since 2009, it has become traditional, and pace the timing of the Elysée. It is the annual report of the Court of Auditors, examining and detailing each euro spent by the Elysee palace. The edition for the budget 2019 of the Palace was published on Wednesday, July 29.

Strict management for more effective action

All in all, the judges financial highlight the efforts of the Presidency regarding the reorganization of this anthill of power. The budget of 105.5 million euros has in fact been met, and the report stresses that it is not a habit. It must be said, thatEmmanuel Macron himself, had already stated, in 2017, its desire to achieve a more efficient structure, and that the efforts in this direction have accelerated after the deal Benalla (2018).

Now, the palace of the French Republic is built around 4 main directions, which are switched to the 16 existing services previously. And personal side, the Palace had more in 2019 779 officers from 816 a year earlier.

All of these efforts are reflected in the figures, and the Court of Auditors does not lack to be welcomed, although it notes that external events have also been able to contribute to it. The crisis of the yellow vests has brought the President of the Republic to revise downward the number of its travel (-20 %). No doubt, that the health crisis, the coronavirus has no impact on the budget of the Palace, but it will have to wait until next year to measure the magnitude.
