The National Department of Investigations (DNI) affirmed that that the “unforeseen” that occur in the country’s electrical system are registered and monitored by various entities belonging to the aforementioned sector.
“In the National Interconnected Electrical System of the Dominican Republic every relevant fact, related to breakdowns, failures, accidents, any unforeseen event or maintenance, is duly registered in highly reliable technical instances”, read part of a statement issued by the DNI .
Likewise, among the institutions named in that document are the Coordinating Body of the Electricity Sector (OC) and the Energy Control Center of the Dominican Electricity Transmission Company (ETED), also ensuring that Data regarding electrical failures is available for public access on various digital platforms.
The DNI also asserted that that the maintenance of the system is communicated to the OC, adding that these are supervised by the Superintendency of Electricity (SIE).
“Incidents such as periodic maintenance in generation units They are not duly communicated to the OC in strict adherence to the rules and regulations of the electricity sector, as well as as well as the recommendations of the manufacturers of the plants to preserve these assets in good condition, and monitored by the SIE”, he indicated.
These statements were made after an publication of LISTÍN DIARIO, which pointed out that DNI initiated an investigation of the causes that caused the shutdown of several electricity plants.
