The communes that could be affected once this resolution comes into effect would be Los Andes, Calle Larga, Rinconada, San Esteban< /strong>, in addition to a sector of San Felipe; among others.
Specifically, the communes in question must increase their water supply to the San Felipe Station from 1.3 to 11 cubic meters, which represents a growth of 750% .
This situation was not well received by the residents of the towns in the first sector, since they accuse that this will further aggravate the drought problems that they have had for a long time. .
The president of the surveillance board of the First Section of the Aconcagua River, Javier Crasseman, pointed out that these measures are taken without analyzing the underlying problems and that there are imbalances in the distribution of the water coming from the flow of the river.
For the deputy for district number 6, María Francisca Bello, specified that this measure was necessary, because the farmers who live in the communes of the second section were being harmed by the lack of water.
In a meeting held last week, the creation of a working table was determined that will ensure the equitable distribution of water, while the authorities will work for the activation of wells to ensure supply during the summer time.
