This Friday, June 3, two days after Rodolfo Hernández’s campaign issued a statement to stand out of the Spaniard Víctor López —known on the international scene for being the man behind Nayib Bukele’s victory in his presidential campaign for El Salvador—, the communications team of the Anti-Corruption Leaders’ League clarified that said employment relationship between the engineer and the political strategist did take place.

At that time, the campaign team said that López had approached the engineer between the 30th of October and November 5, 2021. During that week, Víctor López “presented a strategy and communication proposal that was not accepted by Hernández, and despite the Spaniard’s insistence, the engineer rejected the offer.”

< p class=”paragraph”>In the letter they described what was said on Wednesday as a confusion about the role that López played in the campaign of the former mayor of Bucaramanga.

“As we previously communicated, From October 30 to November 5, Víctor was in direct contact with the campaign and from then until January 25 he maintained intermittent remote contact, making voluntary contributions and suggestions, with no economic relationship with the campaign”, noted the communications team of Rodolfo Hernández.

For its part, a statement from the agency Kayros Group —of which López is the founder— indicated that López was part of the team of the engineer in “the period between October 30, 2021 (the date he landed in Bucaramanga) and January 25 of this year”.

“On this date, his advice was made public within the framework of the first face-to-face event organized by EL TIEMPO Casa Editorial and Grupo Editorial SEMANA, as stated in a SEMANA publication, as well as on the social networks of the prestigious journalist Vicky Dávila” , says López’s agency.

Víctor López himself spoke with Infobae Colombia about the matter. He noted that the existence of photographs is more than enough proof to demonstrate that the employment relationship was not simply the presentation of “a strategy and communication proposal that was not accepted by Hernández, and despite the Spaniard’s insistence, the engineer rejected the offer”, as was said in the first statement.< /p>

The Spanish strategist added that Hernández’s departure from the campaign was on good terms and he is still in communication with them. The Argentine writer and strategist Ángel Becassino, who recently took charge of Hernández’s campaign, agreed with the version presented by the agency.

The uproar over López’s participation or not in the campaign occurred days after Rodolfo Hernández was announced as the direct opponent of the left-wing candidate, Gustavo Petro Urrego, in the second round on June 19.

Once it was known, López congratulated Hernández through his Twitter account:

“Congratulations! Your family loves you very much, I’m glad I helped you at the time to achieve glory today. Rodolfo Hernández Colombia Presidential Candidate already in the 2nd Round and the 13 “Chinese” of the Inge”, assured the European strategist.

As the Kayros statement indicates, Rodolfo Hernández was seen in January 2022 together with the strategist López, when the candidate attended a presidential debate organized by the magazine Semana and the newspaper El Tiempo.

“Those who attended the face-to-face meeting confirmed that López, president and founder of Kayros Group -a global network for reputation management, communication and public affairs-, spoke in his ear before and after the meeting with the presidential candidate”, said Semana.

About the political advisor it is known that he has a degree in Journalism and Political Science, a master’s degree in Political Analysis and Institutional Consulting , and has a postgraduate degree in Leadership for Global Competitiveness from Georgetown University (USA). In America, he has been behind several presidential campaigns, including Bukele’s, one of the first won with a virtual approach on the continent.

In an interview with the newspaper El Heraldo de Honduras , López described himself as: “a noble, humble, hard-working person who keeps his word and who simply intends to make this world a better place through communication and politics”.< /p>
