Medical negligence and the delay of an ophthalmological operation accuse relatives of a woman who He would not have received a timely diagnosis at the Valdivia Hospital and that, according to what they indicate, they will have to remove an eye.
Once again a complaint of negligence hits the ophthalmology service of the Valdivia Hospital.
Weeks ago Radio Bío Bío made known the situation of two women who accused delays in receiving medical treatment and that one of them was even going blind due to this situation.
In the most recent case, Damaris Antimanque accused Radio Bío Bío that her mother is hospitalized after arriving urgently because an ulcer in one of her eyes had burst, requiring the removal of her organ.
Of course, the clan assured that this extreme was reached due to the negligence of the ophthalmologist who began treating the woman three months ago.
At that time he would have indicated a diagnosis, but later she was checked by another ophthalmologist at the hospital who told her that she had an ulcer in her eye, indicating another treatment and the use of a contact lens to “contain” the injury.
The next controls were carried out again with the first doctor, who would not have considered the diagnosis of the ulcer and – according to Damaris Antimanque – never tested or diagnosed her
The foregoing, they affirmed, led to a worsening of the woman’s condition, who had to go urgently to the Valdivia Hospital, where she is hospitalized waiting to be operated.
Doctor not available to operate on her, family accuses
As a result of the above, the family criticized another situation.
Although she was hospitalized on Wednesday afternoon, the same ophthalmologist would have told them that he would not perform the intervention until “on Monday, probably”.
The foregoing because, again according to the family, the professional “was not available”.
