Dubai – Yasmine El Tohamy – Zamalek’s technical area director Farouk Gaafar has revealed that there is a huge amount of money, in terms of late dues, owed by the club towards the first team players that have yet to be paid to them.
Zamalek’s board led by Mortada Mansour was replaced by a temporary committee led by former club board member and president of the Court of Appeal in Cairo Ahmed El-Bakry.

Mansour’s board was suspended by the Egyptian Public Prosecution after some financial breaches were found, with the investigation still ongoing.
El-Bakry joined by a fellow judge Hesham Ibrahim Ahmed Mahmoud as well lawyer Mohamed Sayed Attia Ali Ahmed.
Later on, the club’s temporary board announced the club debts towards the Egyptian government, with the club’s football committee announcing that the club’s treasury has insufficient funds upon their arrival.
“The late dues for the team players reach 100M EGP,” Gaafar told Zamalek TV.
“The committee entrusted to manage the football team, led by Ayman Younis, is working on extending the players’ contracts.”
Zamalek star midfielder Ferjani Sassi’s contract expires this month and the Whites legend affirmed they want to extend his deal with his own consent.
“We are also aiming to renew Ferjani Sassi’s contract and we want him to feel satisfied and desire to continue with Zamalek,” Gafaar added.
Ferjani Sassi had joined Zamalek in July 2018 from Saudi side Al Nassr, scoring 13 goals and 11 assists in 77 games.
He led Zamalek to the 2019 CAF Confederation Cup, Egypt Cup, Egypt Super Cup, and CAF Super Cup.
