IKEA has already set foot in home automation and augmented reality, but now the Swedish furniture kit giant (and beef dumpling) wants to invest heavily in another market: gaming. For this, IKEA formalizes a brand new partnership with the ASUS brand, and its Republic of Gamers (or ROG) division for the development of various accessories and other furniture dedicated to video game lovers.
IKEA and ROG soon to serve gamers
According to IKEA, about a quarter of the world’s population, or roughly 2.5 billion people, are gamers, and their equipment needs have so far been overlooked. This is why the group is proud to announce today its partnership with ASUS ROG, to ” launch the first series of products designed specifically for gamers, in order to bring the comfort of the gaming experience. to a new level. ”
Obviously, IKEA promises affordable products, and wants to offer a catalog of around 30 products. IKEA obviously wants to combine its home furnishing expertise with that of ROG to create an exceptional gaming experience. The objective is therefore to provide both comfortable furniture designed to increase performance, while integrating perfectly into homes.
Everything is currently under development at IKEA Product Development Center in Shanghai, China. At the moment, it is impossible to know what products will be offered by this collaboration between IKEA and ROG, but we can allow ourselves to think that everything will lead to various models of desks and gaming chairs.
Note that recently, another collaboration has also been talked about, since the Logitech group has joined forces with Herman Miller to develop a gaming chair. However, IKEA’s approach is very different, since the Embody gaming chair is priced at € 1,320, compared to € 1,135 for the Nevi gaming desk. The first IKEA / ROG products are expected to launch in China next February, and available globally in October of the same year.
