As a result of severe flooding in Germany, about 1.3 thousand people went missing in the Ahrweiler region in the west of the country. This was announced by local authorities on Thursday, July 15.

Heavy rains continue in Germany from Monday, 11 July, due to the action of the cyclone “Bernd”. Showers led to flooding. The disaster struck the main blow to the western and southwestern regions of Germany, where rivers, including the Rhine, overflowed their banks and flooded the streets.
The flood killed 58 people. German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier expressed condolences to the families of the victims. He noted that he is mentally with the victims and those who have lost their loved ones. The President also expressed gratitude to the emergency services for their efforts to find and rescue people.
