Spain – including Mallorca – is no longer a high-risk corona area. The number of infections is falling in the popular holiday destination. The message has a catch, however.
Berlin – All of Spain is no longer on the list of Corona high-risk areas. The revocation of the classification by the Robert Koch Institute came into force on Sunday (August 29). Last week there was already an all-clear for parts of Spain. Even the greater Lisbon area in Portugal is no longer a high-risk area after the new classifications on Friday, this also applies to Chile. In contrast, the Caribbean state of Jamaica is now considered a high-risk area.
No more high-risk areas (as of August 29, 2021)
- Chile
- Spain
- Portugal – the Greater Lisbon Region. Exception: The Algarve is still considered a high risk area
Spain removed from the list of high risk areas – what does that mean for holidaymakers?
Travelers from high-risk areas have to be in quarantine for ten days in Germany. Vaccinated and convalescents can avert the quarantine if they submit proof of convalescence or vaccination to the German authorities prior to their entry. The quarantine can be shortened in the event of subsequent submission of a recovery or vaccination certificate or a negative test.

However, holidaymakers in Spain have to pay attention to this
However, travelers to Spain must continue to observe corona rules. The Spanish government has classified Germany as a risk area. The number of corona cases in Germany continues to rise.
- For this reason, all travelers from Germany (from the age of twelve) must be able to prove a vaccination or recovery or present a negative test upon entry.
- When returning to Germany, proof of vaccination or recovery must also be provided – or a negative test must be presented.
What are high risk areas?
Countries or regions are classified as high-risk areas in which a particularly high risk of infection is assumed due to high infection rates. There is also the virus variant area category for areas in which certain coronavirus mutants are particularly widespread.(afp / ml) * Merkur.de is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA
