The men’s team wants to take the last chance to guarantee themselves in the Games and follow the tradition of the Olympics: Brazilian basketball was only left out of the Montreal (Canada) Games in 1976 – both the women’s and men’s teams. Since then, the modality has won three bronze medals (London/1948, Rome/1960 and Tokyo/1964) in the men’s competition; and a silver (Atlanta/1996) and a bronze (Sydney/2000) in the female. In the Tokyo edition, the country will not have the performance of the women’s team.
