Since the 15th century, the islands have been the scene of the last eruptions in Spain, the last one under the sea in La Restinga (Hierro)
Volcanism in Spain has had its stage in the Canary Islands, where eruptions have occurred repeatedly since the Middle Ages. The last one until this Sunday on the island of La Palma, took place in El Hierro and its spectacular nature was mitigated by taking place under the sea off the coast of La Restinga.
