If the Government hoped to see gestures of détente on the part of the independence movement after the granting of the pardons, those winks are made to wait. Secessionism maintains the rhetoric, the tone of warning and the position of maximums to affirm that it does not have to give up its objectives. Not only will the pro-independence forces not ask for forgiveness or give thanks for the pardons, but they believe that it is the State that has to apologize for having imprisoned the leaders of the ‘procés’. Sovereign sources admit that there is a struggle for the story behind the pardons and that they do not want to appear as those defeated in the operation.
