Almost 500 million pesos owed by the Municipality of Concepción to the General Electricity Company (CGE). For this reason, the company has already issued a service suspension notice.
A supply suspension notice was received by the Municipality of Concepción from the CGE, this because of the million-dollar debt they maintain with the company.
The document indicates that as of November 17, the total debt, not contested for energy consumption, exceeds 496 million pesos.
In addition, it is detailed that the total overdue debt of more than 45 days is more than 174 million pesos.

The legal director of the Municipality, Aldo Mardones, pointed out that the situation not only affects the Penquista municipality, but also Chiguyante, Penco and Lota.
“And it strikes me that this occurs every time we have had a dialogue with the General Electricity Company in order for them to specify the amounts, and we are not making payments that do not correspond to reality”, he said.

The issue is complex, added the deputy Eric Aedo, who announced that he will officiate to the Subdere to know the reality of the municipalities in this matter.
The CGE pointed out that it is a plan of collection to institutions and that includes several distributions that are in the name of the municipality of Concepción, they highlighted that it is a regular collection plan carried out by the company and conforms to current electrical regulations.
It should be mentioned that there are other communes that have significant debts with the company, an issue that will be addressed this Tuesday afternoon by the association of municipalities.
BioBioChile communicated with CGE to clarify the possible suspension of public lighting service in the city. In response, the company stated that for security reasons, the electricity of the cited service will not be cut off.
